Mark Coddington
Founder and AdviserI founded Apply UK after more than 20 years working in UK higher education, including international recruitment, partnerships and student support. I now use that experience to help students and families understand the UK university system and make informed choices with confidence.
Philip Tucker
I bring more than 30 years’ experience in international education, including senior leadership and university and careers counselling in schools across Asia and Africa. I support students applying to the UK and other international study destinations, with a focus on helping each student identify the right pathway for their abilities, interests and ambitions.

Mark Coddington
I set up Apply UK to provide independent, personalised guidance to students and families considering higher education in the UK.
With over 20 years of experience working across UK and international universities, I bring a broad and practical understanding of the sector and of the decisions students and families face when considering study in the UK.
I have worked directly with students, academics, and professional teams, advising on admissions, supporting student decision-making, and delivering guidance to international audiences.
My experience spans Russell Group institutions, modern universities, and smaller specialist providers, giving me insight into the diversity of the UK higher education sector. This includes how universities operate, how admissions decisions are made, and how students experience teaching, support, and campus life across different institutions.
I have also served on the reading committee for Chevening Scholarships, which has given me first-hand insight into how highly competitive international scholarship applications are assessed.
I hold the British Council UK Certified Counsellor Certificate, I am UCAS adviser trained, and maintain appropriate safeguarding awareness, including a valid basic DBS check and NSPCC safeguarding training.
I am committed to providing advice that is independent, ethical, and student-centred, and I work within clear professional and regulatory boundaries.
Philip Tucker
Having worked with students throughout different stages of their education, I bring to counselling not only knowledge of university admissions, but a broader understanding of how young people develop, make decisions and prepare for life beyond school.
I hold an MA in International Education from Oxford Brookes University and a Certificate in College Counselling from the University of California, San Diego.
During ten years at the British International School Phuket, I supported students and families as they considered higher education and future career options. Around two-thirds of final-year students applied to universities in the UK each year, while others pursued opportunities in the USA, Canada, Australia, Japan, Hong Kong and across Europe.
My experience includes supporting students applying to highly competitive universities and programmes, including Oxbridge and Medicine, as well as helping students explore scholarship opportunities in areas such as athletics and the arts.
Having worked across different education and admissions systems, I understand how varied the pathways available to students can be. My approach is always centred on helping each student identify the best-fit pathway for their abilities, interests, aspirations and individual circumstances, rather than focusing simply on prestige or conventional measures of success.
